I always thought I’d be a teacher forever, but now I’m trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. All I know is that I want to be happy, creative, and doing something for the greater good.

(Is this what they call a mid-life crisis? I’m only 36…)

Ever since I left the classroom in May of 2022, it’s felt a little weird. I’ve never not been in a school — whether as a student or a teacher, for 30 years I went to school every August. I’ve always had a creative mind and have dreamed of making that into a career, so here we are!

I started self-teaching a graphic design program while working at an ed-tech non-profit, and discovered how much I enjoyed it… the compliments I got for my creations certainly helped :) I kept learning more and more and eventually ended up with my first paid client about a year later… and that brings us to today!

It is my hope to help you create a product - whether online or in print - that is exactly how you envision. Even if you don’t have a clear idea of what you want, I can help you figure those details out, and together we can create a design we’re both insanely proud of.

  • My last name is Wood (note the lack of “s” on the end… just Wood, not Woods!) and one of our kids dubbed us “The Woodpile.” It stuck, and now that’s become our family name. True story: for awhile one of the kids has been quite insistent that we dress as a pile of wood for Halloween… so far, I’ve managed to convince them that’s not a great idea!!

  • Creative problem solving! My dad taught me that there’s nothing you can’t solve with a little bit of elbow grease and ingenuity. (And maybe some duct tape and a YouTube video.)

  • The ability to teleport. I despise traffic with every fiber of my soul and I miss my family and friends who don’t live close by. It would make things SO much easier to be able to instantly give or get a quick hug!

  • How to set up this website! I’ll admit, I got ambitious and started setting up a different type… and quickly became overwhelmed. I’m currently learning how to run a small business and market myself. It’s a whole new world and it’s a little bit terrifying!

  • GF/DF chocolate chip cookies and a chocolate milkshake (no coconut milk— yuck!)
